NHiser@EnglishTalkShop.com.Nancy Hiser is the Founder and Director of English Talk Shop. She has developed and distributed American Speechsounds pronunciation software for non-native speakers for more than 20 years. Her practice focused on accent improvement training for individuals and small groups in the corporate and healthcare sectors. Nancy holds a BA in English from the University of California Berkeley and an MA in Speech Communication from California State University. She is the co-founder of the STEP (Speech Training in English Pronunciation) Consortium and has been associated with the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) organizations for more than 20 years. Prior to starting English Talk Shop, Nancy established American Speechsounds (formerly SpeechCom, Inc.) in 1983. As a clinical speech pathologist, she chaired Jude Hospital’s Speech Pathology Department and the Western Medical Center’s Speech-Hearing Department, both in Southern California. She also served as an instructor at Chapman University.
Ralf Brockhaus is English Talk Shop’s Managing Partner. He has a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 20+ years of professional software development and management experience with high profile companies and clients including IBM, FileNET, Volkswagen, BMW, and Siemens.
Ralf has a deep passion for mobile and social network computing. As a senior development manager, Ralf is a strong advocate for formal agile development processes and has a track record utilizing agile development to satisfy customers with high quality and on-time delivery. He is also an award winning instructor at the University of California in Irvine (UCI) where he teaches emerging technologies with a focus on Mobile Development, Social Network Computing, and Agile Development Practices.
Ralf has natural passion for multilingual education: he was born in Germany, his wife is from Mexico City, and their beautiful daughter was born in California where she receives a trilingual education 🙂
