Free Accent Improvement Quiz

English that sound the same, even though they are spelled differently and have different meanings, are called homophones: “homo-” means same; “-phone” means sound. “Here” and “hear” are examples—they’re spelled differently but they’re pronounced the same. The listener understands the meaning through the context in which the word is used. When spoken as single words, you can’t be sure which word is being used. Now, here’s the contest!

Are these pairs of words pronounced the same—at least at times?
